Woman hit by car in Gillingham

A woman has been hit by a car on Napier Road in Gillingham.

Police were called to a report of a collision at 10:50 today involving a 40 year old woman. The car is reported to have left the scene before police arrived.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance landed in nearby Gillingham Park, and it is understood the casualty has been taken to Kings College Hospital in London after suffering serious injuries.

According to eyewitnesses, the car involved failed to stop.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate the vehicle and the driver.
