If anyone turned up today hoping for a PB (that is, if they even bothered to get out of bed), those hopes were quickly dashed when it became apparent the Lines were so windy that the gazebo didn’t make an appearance!
One runner commented that he might as well have been running backwards!
Nevertheless, 442 runners, walkers and jeffers plodded their way around the 5k, dodging puddles as they went. There were 36 first timers, and surprisingly, 28 PBs!
Congratulations to Philip Wakelin who took first place in 17:59 and to Jemma Whyman (Medway Runners Wolfpack), first female in 21:46 on her 8th Parkrun.
As always, full results are available on the Great Lines Parkrun website.
Parkrun is a free, weekly 5k, for people of all abilities. There’s no time to achieve, and you can walk, jog or run. It takes place every Saturday at 9:00am.
